PHPD rounds up some of the ‘people’ moves occurring around the housebuilding sector.

With a new MD announced at Create Homes, a new Chief Executive at Retirement Villages Group and two new Land Directors amongst recent appointments, PHPD takes brief look at the recent ‘people news’ from the sector.  

Create Homes | Andrew Wright
Create Homes has named Andrew Wright as its Managing Director. Andrew’s role will be to oversee the expansion and development of Create Homes, delivering 100 units in 2020 and further strategic growth to build the brands reputation as a high-quality housebuilder.

He brings more than 35 years of Industry experience to the joins the North West based housebuilder.

Andrew commented: “I am delighted to be joining Create Homes at such a key time. There are a lot of opportunities in this region. With a number of land acquisitions already secured, or in the pipeline, this will allow the business to grow at a fairly rapid pace. My role will be to drive growth of the business whilst maintaining our reputation for quality and the high specification of our properties.” Find out more…

Redrow Homes South Midlands | Ed Lindley
The Northampton-based housebuilder has bolstered its team with the appointment of a new Land Director, Ed Lindley.

Ed Lindley, originally from Kent, brings more than 12 years’ experience in the property sector. He has previously spent time as Senior Land Manager at the Redrow Homes South Midlands and, most recently, he completed a stint as Land Director at Bloor Homes, where he focused on the strategic side of land acquisition, as well as on more immediate opportunities.

Ed said: “It’s wonderful to return to a company with great core values and ethics, along with a market leading product and real identity as a business. I’m looking forward to both learning from and working with a well-established local management team to drive business growth in the South Midlands Division.”

Retirement Villages Group | Will Bax
Retirement Villages Group, a leading retirement community developer and operator, has appointed Will Bax new Chief Executive from April 2019. Will, who replaces Andrew Ovey, was previously Executive Director at Grosvenor Group with responsibility for the management and development of its 300-acre central London estate.

Will said: “Building communities that support older people in their own homes can make a massive difference to the growing population of over 75s – reducing isolation, promoting an active lifestyle and helping with daily chores, not to mention the family housing it releases and the reduction in care costs. But the UK remains woefully undersupplied – the retirement village sector is a huge opportunity and I am delighted to lead RVG on the next stage of its growth.”

NHBC | Jenny Scott
New home warranty and insurance provider NHBC has announced the appointment of Jenny Scott as the organisation’s new Head of Claims. Jenny joins NHBC from the QBE Group having worked within the insurance sector for the past 20 years.  Her previous roles included UK Property Claims Manager at QBE Europe and Claims Handling Centre Manager at Allianz.

Jenny commented: “I am excited to be joining NHBC at this time and look forward to building on the good work already done by the Claims team.”

Elan Homes | Philip Palmer
Elan Homes has appointed Philip Palmer its new Land Director for the Northern region. Palmer returns to work with members of Elan’s senior management team after a 13 year absence, stating that the move was a “good fit” at this stage of his career.

He said: “The challenge of heading up the land department for the Northern Region is to maintain the quality, yet extend the land portfolio to ensure the delivery of the enhanced business growth strategy. The delivery of more land opportunities, with and without planning permissions, will allow a more flexible approach to the delivery of our business plan, allowing for time adjustments in the process both in and out of our control.
