South London property development funded by Lloyds Bank sells in just two weeks

A South London property group saw its latest development of five residential properties in Putney, funded by a £2m development loan from Lloyds Bank, sell out within just two weeks of arriving on the market in March.

Twickenham-headquartered Burbeck Group was founded by brothers Alex and Jack Willcocks in 2013 and now comprises interior design, property development and investment arms, offering a full suite of services to customers across the capital. Its latest development ranged from one to three-bed flats, which cost between £550k and just over £1m. Burbeck Group has been a customer of Lloyds Bank since 2018 and, during their three-year partnership, Lloyds Bank has also provided the business with a £1m loan to develop three flats in Fulham.

Since its inception, Burbeck Group has grown to employ 20 permanent staff, plus contractors, across Burbeck Interiors, Burbeck Management and Burbeck Capital, increasing the Group’s turnover by 100% year on year in the process.

The speed of the recent development sale has been attributed to staging the properties to an award-winning standard, resulting in all offers received being over asking price. In 2019, Burbeck Group’s interior design arm dressed more than £180m worth of property across the UK, with an average property value of £1.7m. Burbeck Interiors is also currently responsible for show-home staging around 50 properties for clients including estate agents Savills.

Alex Willcocks, co-founding director of Burbeck Group, said: “The support we’ve received from Lloyds Bank has been invaluable to the exponential growth the Group has experienced during the last few years. Working with a trusted development finance provider allows our design and build teams to focus on producing best-in-class properties with a track record of selling in super quick time. It’s a partnership we value greatly, and one that continues to be a cornerstone of our success.”

Lee Powney, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, added: “The success of Burbeck Group to date shows that ensuring quality at every stage of the property development process can deliver outstanding results, and the team’s unique interior designs are clearly attractive to prospective buyers. We will remain by the side of the business as it continues its impressive growth journey.”
