Hill and Marshall announce second phase of £550 million new community in Cambridge

A joint venture partnership between award-winning developer, Hill Group and Marshall Group Properties will deliver the second phase of Marleigh, a new neighbourhood three miles east of Cambridge city centre, which will comprise around 1,300 homes once complete, with a gross development value of £550million.

The second phase has outline planning and a reserved matters planning application for 417 homes will be submitted later this year, with start on site anticipated mid-2021.

The announcement marks the continuation of the partnership between Hill and Marshall (Hill Marshall LLP), which is currently delivering 547 homes. Once complete, Marleigh will boast a wealth of community facilities including a market square, a two-form entry primary school and a community centre. The new community will be enveloped in natural surrounds, offering a multitude of verdant open spaces, public parks, woodland walks and allotment gardens, and there will be new cycle and walking routes, public art, outdoor spaces and sports pitches for residents of all ages to enjoy.

Andy Hill, Chief Executive, Hill Group, said: “We are delighted to continue our successful partnership with the Marshall Group to deliver the next instalment of this innovative new neighbourhood. As two family run, Cambridge companies, we share the same vision and commitment to building inspiring and sustainable communities, which will stand the test of time. Marleigh marks the first step in the creation of a new landmark district which will transform East Cambridge and we are proud to play a part in that legacy.”

Richard Howe, Managing Director, Marshall Group Properties, said: “We are pleased to be extending our partnership with Hill Group to deliver this important second phase of Marleigh. The first phase is already well underway, and we are excited that the first residents of Marleigh will soon move into their new homes.
