Avant Homes aquires land in County Durham for £18.6M development of 65 homes in West Rainton

North East housebuilder Avant Homes has acquired a piece of land in the County Durham suburb of West Rainton with plans to deliver a £18.6m development of 65 new-build homes.

Located within walking distance of the centre of West Rainton and four miles north east of Durham, the development will feature a selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom design-led homes across 12 house designs.

Groundworks for the development, named Allenson View, will commence in March 2021 with the showhomes expected to open at the end of 2021. The overall build is estimated to take approximately two and a half years and the first homes are expected to be ready for occupation in March 2022.

In addition to providing new homes for the area, Avant Homes will also commit to a community contribution of £342,287 towards healthcare, education, community, green spaces, and local transport.

Avant Homes North East managing director, Jennifer Tupman, said: “West Rainton has become an increasingly sought-after area for a wide range of buyers and following the huge success of our nearby Rainton Green development, which was completed in 2018, we are very pleased to have successfully purchased the land for this new development.

“With its excellent transport links and close-by amenities, we’re expecting Allenson View to be popular with local homebuyers and we’re very much looking forward to launching the first homes this summer.”

West Rainton is a semi-rural location with local amenities, schools and supermarkets on the doorstep while also being home to Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve and English heritage site, Finchale Priory, just one mile away. The area is well connected with the A1(M) and the A19 close by giving easy access to major towns and cities.

Allenson View will be the fifth development Avant Homes North East has moved forward since the beginning of 2021. The five latest developments are located across Sunderland, County Durham, and Gateshead, and will provide 662 new homes for the region with a combined gross development value of £109.9m.

Based in Sunderland, Avant Homes North East is part of the Avant Homes Group, one of the leading private developers of residential property in the UK. The group currently has 56 developments across its five operating regions, 14 of which are in the North East stretching from Killingworth in North Tyneside to Yarm in Teesside.
