Story Contracting launches Reiver Homes

Reiver Homes created to meet demand for houses on small to medium sized developments as its sister company, Story Homes focuses on larger scale residential developments.

Story Contracting has launched Reiver Homes, a new house building division based out of its Burgh Road headquarters in Carlisle.

Reiver Homes has been built on the same ethos as its sister company, Story Homes in that is seeks to build homes of character and quality but will have a different house type range to provide greater choice.

The division will be led by Dexter Routledge who has over 30 years’ experience in building new houses in Cumbria and South West Scotland.

Fred Story, Chief Executive at Story Contracting said: “The market place has offered exceptional opportunities for our businesses over the years and house building is where both of our businesses, Story Contracting and Story Homes were born.

“We built our first house in 1987 and to be launching Reiver Homes 29 years on is fantastic. I’m passionate about it and more so, about the quality that the Reiver team can deliver and that will transcend throughout the houses we build. It’s an exciting time to be part of Story Contracting and our new journey with Reiver Homes.”

Work has started on Reiver’s March Mount development located next to the Fountainbleau Ladypark Nature reserve on the Marchfield area of Dumfries. Planning has been greanted for 17 of the proposed 73 properties. The development will consist of 61 Bungalows and 12 Apartments. Work has begun on an initial five bungalows due for completion by the end of March 2017 featuring the new Reiver Cranston, Charlton and Collingwood house types.

Other new developments include:

  • Shaddon Mill, Carlisle: The building formerly developed by Story Homes 10 years ago will see the first floor developed to provide 10 luxury apartments 9 two bedroom and 1 one bedroom.
  • Heads Nook, Carlisle: A planning application has been submitted for 10 four/five bed detached properties at Heads Nook. The development will feature the company’s new core range with new house types to be released in the near future. Work is due to begin in January 2017.
  • Lansdowne Close, Carlisle: Planning has been submitted for 19 properties at Lansdowne Close in Stanwix, made up of seven 4 bed detached houses, eight 3 bed semi-detached houses and four 3 bed semi-detached affordable houses. Work is due to begin early spring 2017.

Dexter Routledge, Land Development Manager at Reiver Homes said: “The Story name is synonymous with high quality, high specification homes in this area and the Reiver brand will epitomise this. We currently have a team of eight people which will grow significantly over the next 12 months as the Reiver Homes brand establishes itself in the market place. By being a small family-owned business with years of experience we can deliver crafted houses with quality at the core of each build.”
