Lovell to build first new homes at Beacon Park, Gorleston

56 new homes to be built by Lovell at Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk.

Partnership homes specialist Lovell has been selected to build the £9 million first phase of a major new homes development, which Great Yarmouth Borough Council is bringing forward at Gorleston-on-Sea, near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

East Wood is a distinctive scheme of 287 new homes at Beacon Park, with a mixture of houses, flats and bungalows in a woodland setting, close to an Enterprise Zone and James Paget Hospital. The council’s local authority trading company, Equinox Enterprises Ltd, assisted by Orwell Project Management, has appointed Lovell to build the first phase of 56 contemporary houses and flats, mainly for sale.

Construction on the first phase is set to start this autumn and is scheduled for completion in mid-2020. Fifty of the homes will be for open market sale, six will be new council homes.

Lovell Regional Managing Director Simon Medler said: “We’re very excited to be working with Equinox Enterprises, Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Orwell to bring these much-needed new homes to Gorleston, drawing on our expertise in creating high-quality open market and affordable homes and our excellent record of successfully working in partnership with local authorities and housing associations.”

The properties make up the first phase of the wider East Wood housing scheme, designed by architects Ingleton Wood. The overall development will be surrounded by green space, with an existing woodland walk footpath surrounding the neighbourhood.
