Aster to deliver 140 homes at Great Western Park

Ethical housing developer Aster Group has secured 140 homes at Great Western Park, the huge 3,300-property development in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

The homes – a mixture of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties – have been secured from Miller Homes and Taylor Wimpey via section 106 agreements. Some 96 of Aster’s homes will be offered via shared ownership with the remainder made available for affordable rent.

Great Western Park, situated west of Didcot town centre, is one of the largest residential developments in the UK. When it is completed in 2022, alongside thousands of homes it will also have three schools, a college, a nursery, parks, community centres and retail space.

Martyn Blackman, development director at Aster Group, said: “We’re focused on delivering more homes – whether through section 106 agreements, land-led schemes or joint ventures – and we are committed to investing £500m over the next five years to achieve this.

“Working closely with other housebuilders, we are ensuring that shared ownership tenure is made available to those seeking to get a foot on the housing ladder – it’s a great way for many would-be house buyers to take their first steps into the housing market.”

Last month Aster revealed that revenues in the year to March 2016 were a record £179m. Pre-tax profits were £34m – a year-on-year increase of 20 per cent.
