Galliford Try Partnerships plans new development in Penwortham

Galliford Try Partnerships, which markets its homes under the Linden Homes banner, has submitted a detailed planning application to South Ribble Council to re-develop a site off Hill Road South, Penwortham, into a new residential development.

The proposal, which is aimed at providing new and affordable homes for those stepping onto the property ladder for the first time, will see Galliford Try Partnerships build a total of 61 homes on the currently derelict site.

Fifty per cent of the new homes built will be available for open market sale under the Linden Homes brand and will include a mix of three and four bedroom semi and detached family homes. The remainder of the homes will be sold through the ‘Starter Homes Initiative’, and will include a combination of two bedroom apartments and two-bedroom houses.

The government backed initiative offers first time buyers aged between 23 and 40, a minimum discount of 20 per cent on the market value of the new home.

The 4.2 acre site was previously owned by The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and the application follows Galliford Try Partnerships’ acquisition of the site last month.

If planning is approved, Galliford Try Partnerships will aim to start on the site to be known as The Maltings later this year. First completions are expected in Summer 2018.

Darren Leary, development director at Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “We’re delighted to have been selected as the development partner for The Maltings and we look forward working with South Ribble Council to bring the towns first starter home development to life.”
